Planning Funeral Arrangements and Pre-Arrangements with Collier Trenerry

When is the best time to plan a funeral? Ironically, the answer is anytime except when it’s time for the funeral. There are many advantages of making funeral pre-arrangements. A funeral is an extremely special, meaningful event. You wouldn’t plan a wedding in just a few days, would you? At Collier Trenerry, we believe that it’s wise to make your funeral arrangements in advance. Here’s why.

Pre-planning eases the burden on your family

If your family doesn’t know your wishes, they will have to make difficult decisions at a tough time. If they know your wishes regarding burial vs. cremation, whether you’d like your casket open or closed, how much money to spend, and so on, their job will be much easier, leaving them free to grieve and celebrate your life together.

Pre-planning eliminates the financial burden for your family

Pre-planning gives you the opportunity to make the necessary financial arrangements for your funeral. Even if you are leaving plenty of money behind, it’s possible that your family may have trouble accessing it quickly enough. Funeral pre-planning takes this worry away from them. You’ll also pay a set price for your funeral, and your family will encounter no additional fees unless they require additional items that are not included on the contract.

Pre-planning gives your family the opportunity to experience a meaningful funeral

A funeral is important for a grieving family. It gives them the emotional closure they need and enables them to begin healing. Your family members will benefit socially and psychologically by honouring your life with a meaningful ceremony. If they must scramble to plan your funeral in a short time, they may not be able to make it the best it can be.

Pre-planning so your family can carry out your final wishes

You may have specific preferences for your funeral and the disposition of your remains. Funeral pre-arrangements give you the chance to express them clearly. For example, you may prefer burial over cremation, a specific epitaph on your headstone, or specific readings or music at the service. Making funeral arrangements ahead of time allows you to communicate these preferences to your family.

Coffin or Casket Costs

Many people regard the coffin or casket as an important tribute to the deceased and they are therefore selected with care. The difference is basically one of design. A Coffin have a tapered head and foot and are wide at the shoulders, with a removable lid. A Casket is a rectangular shape with a hinged lid. Caskets are usually constructed of better quality timbers and feature higher standards of workmanship.
